Current editor is departing after more than two years in the top seat at industry leading magazine Insurance Times

Insurance Times has appointed a new editor following the departure of incumbent Yannick Guerry.

Katie Scott joined the magazine in October 2019 as Associate Editor, and will now take over the top role from next week.

Prior to joining Insurance Times, Scott worked as a reporter for DVV-owned trade magazine Employee Benefits.

Guerry was appointed editor of Insurance Times in January 2019, having previously worked for maritime publication and website Fairplay.

He will be joining aquaculture and commercial fishing website Undercurrent News as editor.

Guerry commented: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my two years learning and writing about the insurance industry.

”My tenure coincided with a turbulent and tumultuous time for the sector, most notably the Covid-19 pandemic, but also the FCA pricing crackdown, the hardening markets, and the challenges and opportunities posed by new technology.

“But the main thing I’ve learnt is that this industry is full of decent, kind people who seem to genuinely care about their staff and customers.

“I’ve no doubt that Katie will be a fantastic editor of Insurance Times and will be instrumental in driving its success in the years to come.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank Katie, Senior Reporter Clare Ruel, and all my colleagues who have supported me during my time with the magazine.”

Scott added: ”I’m excited to be taking up the helm of such a well-respected title after joining the industry a little over a year ago.

”During the course of my job so far, I’ve learned how fascinating the insurance industry is and how many facets of our daily lives it touches and influences. I’m incredibly proud of the work we do at Insurance Times, so to have the opportunity to spearhead our editorial content as editor is a great privilege.

”I’d like to thank Yannick for his continued support and his contribution to the title, which has helped make it the must-read magazine it is today. I wish him the best of luck in his new role.”

Tim Potter, managing director of Newsquest Specialist Media, which publishes Insurance Times, said: “I’m delighted with Katie’s promotion to Editor. The commitment and drive she has already demonstrated as Associate Editor will help reinforce our role as the go-to destination for news and insight on general insurance brokers and insurers.”
