Marriages can give rise to some fun and games with the in-laws. And just as in the private world so it is in the insurance industry and its latest nuptial, Norwich Union (NU) and RAC.
Backchat learns that rival insurer AXA woke up the day after the union was announced to find itself in bed with arch rival NU. Transpires that when NU bought RAC they also bought a long-term lease on an AXA building in Morecambe currently shared between AXA and RAC. OK, you might think, just pull out the cancellation clause on the lease, you know, that standard one that refers to acquisitions.
Ah, well. Cough, splutter. Seems there isn't one. Sorry.
