Omega will not make an offer for Hardy, it was announced today.

The Takeover Panel gave Omega until 1 August to decide whether it would put in a formal offer for Hardy. It did not specify a reason for withdrawing from takeover talks.

Omega said it reserved the right to make an offer within the next six months if Hardy agrees to or recommends an offer, a third party announces an intention to make an offer for Hardy, or Hardy announces a 'whitewash' proposal or a reverse takeover.
