Broker grows financial lines capability with senior appointments

Lloyd’s broker Oxygen has recruited three senior professional indemnity (PI) brokers as part of its strategy to grow its financial lines business.

Andy Lucia, Lee Saunders and Gregory Irgin join Oxygen’s professional risks team headed by Andrew Wallin and will focus, primarily, on building Oxygen’s PI wholesale business.

The team will work closely with regional intermediaries to develop new facilities and establish new trading partnerships. They will also work on new business development for the company’s professional risk practice.

Lucia joins Oxygen from Lloyd’s broker Houlder Insurance Services, where he was responsible for new business development.

Previously, he was an associate director with Heath Lambert. He has worked in the PI market since 1992 including broking roles at Marsh and Minet.

Saunders also joins from Houlder where he worked with Lucia on developing new PI business strategies. Previously, he ran Heath Lambert’s PI international broking division and has held PI broking roles since he began his insurance career in 1986.

Irgin joins Oxygen from Griffiths and Armour where he was responsible for new business development covering the construction sector and solicitor market. He was previously with Collegiate Insurance Brokers and prior to that Collegiate Management Services.

Commenting on Oxygen’s commitment to growing its financial lines business and the new appointments, Wallin, who heads up Oxygen’s professional risks team, said: “Andy, Lee and Gregory will play a pivotal role in growing our financial lines business.

"Their experience and knowledge and hard earned reputation in the PI market are important to the success of our strategy and bringing them on board is further evidence of the commitment we have to grow this market.”

Alongside it’s wholesale regional broker activities, Oxygen plans to develop products and services in other areas of PI such as complex risks and alternative risk financing.
