Petplan Equine is hoping to pick up Norwich Union's equine business by relaxing normal requirements for new business in the wake of the insurer's withdrawal from the market last week.

For a limited period, Petplan Equine will accept existing documentation and original vetting, waiving the normal 14 days waiting period for cover for illness on sight of a current Norwich Union certificate of insurance and acceptable veterinary certificate. There is no need for Norwich Union customers to pay for a new veterinary certificate.

Julia Johnson, operations director for Petplan said: “As the largest animal health insurance specialist in the market, we are in a unique position to provide immediate cover for the thousands of Norwich Union equine policyholders who will be affected by this.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
