Jim Pittman the former claims manager at Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS)General Insurance has returned to the division as head of household claims.

Pittman left HBOS GI in April 2004,and spent 14 months as chief executive of legal expenses finance specialist Devonshire Capital.

He returned to HBOS in June 2005 to head up its medical reporting arm Micrah Services.

HBOS said Pittman 's new position "combines previous roles and will allow him to further develop HBOS 's claims service
in Halifax and also in the East Midlands, which acts as a base for the insurer 's team of personal claims consultants ".

A spokeswoman said this was the first time the service centres and the in-house loss adjusters had been brought together under one management team.

Pittman was responsible for the creation of HBOS 's internal adjusting division of personal claims consultants .
