Royal & Sun Alliance (R&SA) chief executive Andy Haste received a 15% rise in total pay last year.

According to the insurer's annual report, Haste received a total £1.6m in salary and bonuses, up from £1.3m the year before.

The company also revealed it is looking to reduce the use of share options for top executives. R&SA said it is planning to stop the practice of "retesting" the performance criteria for options. Shareholders tend to dislike retesting as it is seen as a second chance to earn bonuses, the insurer said.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
