Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has taken a 12.5% stake in RP Hodson,a Wakefield-based insurance broker.
R&SA marketing and distribution director Brendan McManus said: "Our investment in RP Hodson is part of a limited programme of involvement with independent brokers designed to help their expansion."
RP Hodson, which has offices in London, Leeds and Wakefield, is a family-controlled business that employs 200 people
