Insurer to target SME brokers in the regons

Ace is set to target regional SME brokers to distribute directors’ and officers’ (D&0) cover.

The insurer has pledged to help educate brokers after estimating that 95% of the broking market does not currently have specialist D&O teams.

Dan Holloway, UK D&O product manager at Ace, said:. “SME brokers broke a lot of everything so their D&O knowledge might not be as much as other big brokers.

“We can help them if they need it.”

Ace is also set to launch a new pension trustee’s product in the coming weeks via its Ace Online platform.

Dean Horton, senior underwriter at Ace D&O, said he will look to the regions to reshape its current book of business.

He said: “There has always been a grey area about D&O and some [brokers] have shied away from it.”

He added that the South West was particularly low on D&O brokers. “We would like to increase our D&O presence in the West Country and carry out some type of research to see what the reaction would be,” he said.
