A new online consumer guide to rehabilitation services has been launched aimed at providing the general public with a one-stop-portal of information on all things related to rehabilitation and care.

The launch by Health & Case Management Limited (HCML) follows advice given by the newly created rehabilitation industry medical advisory board headed up by Prof. Mansel Aylward, the former chief medical officer at the Department for Work and Pensions.

The portal, called Rehab Direct, has been designed to help injured people find out more about their condition and the best rehabilitation services available to them.

Although the portal will be managed by HCML, it will operate as an individual brand welcoming input from other organisations.

Helen Merfield, HCML's CEO said: "Rehabilitation is still relatively new in the UK and we often find that limited awareness is a barrier to the injured person's understanding of the full benefits.

"Our advisory board - all of whom are experts in their field - found it difficult to find accurate and useful consumer information so we decided to launch this website not just for the benefit of HCML clients but for the industry as a whole."

Prof Mansel Aylward, chair of the Medical Advisory board added: "I fully support the development of Rehab Direct to provide a one-stop-shop for advice, guidance and information to ensure the consumer is fully informed of their rights and what treatment is available to best meet their needs."
