New research from Consumer Intelligence (CI) shows that motor insurance premiums have fallen slightly over the last 12 months.
On average motorists are saving just £2 on last year but the research shows that regionally, East Anglian, Scottish and Welsh drivers get the best deals on motor premiums, while Londoners and those in the North-West pay twice as much as them.
The survey also revealed a 119% difference between the cheapest and most expensive of 35 top motor insurers.
Ian Hughes, managing director of Bristol-based Consumer Intelligence, said: "It is important that everyone should shop around because they could save up to £160 on the average £485 premium – and that represents a significant saving to anyone."
