Group chief executive Stephen Hester hails ‘fresh outlook’ of new UK chief executive

RSA has confirmed the appointment of Steve Lewis as chief executive of RSA UK and Western Europe.

Lewis will join on 1 January and replaces Adrian Brown, who will leave the insurer on 31 August to join Arthur J Gallagher as executive chairman of underwriting and distribution.

Lewis will join the group executive team and report to group chief executive Stephen Hester.

In his new job he will be responsible for the RSA and More Th>n brands in the UK, 123.ie in Ireland and the businesses across Western Europe which together wrote £3.6bn of net premium in 2013.

Hester said: “I am delighted to have appointed someone of Steve’s calibre to RSA. He combines exceptional industry knowledge with experience of leading successful businesses in a competitive marketplace.

“I am confident that Steve will bring a fresh outlook and approach, and together with our existing UK management team, provide the strong leadership, energy and commitment to make the changes that will ensure the future success of our UK and Western Europe businesses.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
