RSA’s group broker relationship and sales director Paul Donaldson (pictured) will retire in early 2014 after more than 37 years with the insurer.

Donaldson will hand over his responsibilities for running RSA’s global specialty lines (GSL) division to Neil Lightbown on 1 May this year.

Lightbown is currently UK and western Europe underwriting director and chief underwriting officer for global specialty lines.

In his new role as global specialty lines director, Lightbown will report to RSA group chief executive Simon Lee.

Donaldson will continue to build RSA’s broker relationships across the world for the remainder of 2013.

Lee said: “I am delighted to appoint Neil as our new GSL director. I look forward to working with him to develop our GSL business, continue our global growth and improve our service to our customers.”

Commenting on Donaldson’s retirement, Lee said: “He has done a great job establishing GSL as a key driver of profitable growth and has built strong relationships with our key brokers around the world. I am grateful for the significant role he has played in making RSA the success it is today. Although he will be around for a while I wish him an enjoyable retirement in 2014.”
