Janet Connor takes newly created managing director role in August

Janet Connor is leaving her managing director role at More Than, RSA’s direct personal lines brand, to head up AA’s insurance business.

She will take up the newly created role of managing director of AA Insurance on 1 August.

Connor will be responsible for developing the AA’s car, home, travel, small business, pet and niche insurance portfolios. She will report directly to AA chief executive Chris Jansen.

Reporting to Connor will be Simon Douglas, panel and pricing director; Craig Staniland, who is responsible for underwriting, and Ian Stokoe, head of insurance sales and customer service.

Simon Douglas is leading the insurance team until Connor joins the team.

Connor has been the managing director of More Than since 2012 and was responsible for the day-to-day running of the motor, home, pet, life and travel insurance business.

Prior to that she was managing director of Ageas-owned over-50s insurer RIAS.

Jansen said: “This is a vital move in the development of the AA and the creation of a dedicated managing director for the insurance business, which I see as being essential in ensuring AA Insurance remains leading provider of personal lines cover.

“She brings a wealth of experience that will give new impetus to our insurance business, which is already one of the best known and the most trusted brand in the market.”

RSA said it had already begun its search for Connor’s replacement, and that her responsibilities would be assumed by the More Than management team in the interim.s
