Ruth Kelly will retain her existing portfolio of financial services, insurance, the City, banking and pensions as financial secretary to the Treasury.

Kelly, 34, was promoted in yesterday's government reshuffle from her role as economic secretary. She is a former Guardian journalist and Bank of England official, firmly in the Chancellor Gordon Brown's camp, and is being tipped as the first female Chancellor.

Her replacement as economic secretary is John Healey MP, who will oversee areas incustoms and excise; environmental issues; transport taxes, and VAT.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
