Case centres on crashed sports car

Garry O' Connor, Scotland footballer

Scotland striker Garry O’Connor is due back in court later this month to answer insurance fraud charges, according to reports.

The Hibernian FC footballer is alleged to have made a fraudulent claim of almost £100,000 following a crash near Tranent in East Lothian involving his Ferrari Spider F1. The written off vehicle was later discovered abandoned.

According to the BBC, O’Connor did not appear at Haddington Sheriff Court. No plea was entered and his case is due to be heard again on 23 November. O’Connor has received four caps for his country and has also played for Barnsley and Birmingham FC.
