A protocol agreement between Scott Rees and Esure has been set up in a move to ensure claims are handled...

Law firm Scott Rees & Co and internet insurer Esure have set up a protocol agreement to speed up claims and cut administration costs.

The new contract aims to deliver significant benefits to members of the public pursuing compensation claims for soft tissue injuries, such as whiplash, caused in road traffic accidents.

Key components of the protocol, which applies only to non-litigated cases, will include set response times and timescales, fixed solicitor fees and agreed medical agency sources.

The agreement is expected to cut the length of time it takes for an average case to be handled. Claimants will be asked whether they want their case to be settled under the protocol agreement and whether they agree to the matrix of damages which falls in line with the Judicial Studies Board Guidelines.
