The Society of Claims Technicians (SCT) could increase its membership by more than 1,200, following successful roadshows in Malaysia and Hong Kong.

The two-year-old claims body, which is affiliated to the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, has 50 existing members in Malaysia and 1,000 more overall.

SCT managing director Chris Miller said: “The insurance industries of Hong Kong and Malaysia have need for a relevant and internationally recognised qualification suitable for both loss adjusters and claims handlers alike.”

He said there was significant scope for the SCT to develop in South-east Asia. There are more than 10,000 claims examiners in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand who subscribe to the Malaysian Insurance Institute for training and qualifications.

Miller added: “The contacts being made in south-east Asia by the SCT underlines the importance of the London insurance market not only in an economic sense, but as a marker and guarantor of professional standards.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
