EDI service used by blue-chip insurers

A secure document transmitting service used by insurers and brokers has been sold to rival Atlas Products International.

Orbit, based in Manchester, also provides electronic data interchange (EDI) network services for customers including AXA, Zurich, Aviva and RSA.

Orbit chief executive Julie McLaughlin said: “It will firstly ensure business as normal, yet allow our customers to have access to a wider range of products and services from Atlas. We see significant benefits for all of our customers.”

Atlas chief executive Allan Gray said: “This acquisition will strengthen our customer base in insurance and financial services and allow Orbit’s customers to benefit from an extended suite of solutions, products and services from the wider Atlas Group. This transaction confirms Atlas’ position as one of the market leaders in EDI and ebusiness.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
