Polaris and Sirius have finally agreed terms over imarket integration.
Sirius was the last of the software houses to sign up to the industry-wide project. All of the UK's major general insurance broker system providers have now signed up to imarket integration.
Polaris said that software house integration would help develop imarket so brokers could enter data into their own system, so removing the need for re-keying.
This benefits all parties since it avoids wasteful duplication and reduces the inevitable errors that occur when the data entry is repeated manually.
Polaris managing director Martin McLachlan said: “Agreeing integration terms with Sirius is a significant step. It concludes our negotiations with all the major software suppliers, establishing industry-wide connectivity capability for brokers and the imarket insurer community.
"Sirius provides solutions to a very significant sector with some well-known and successful broker customers. By integrating the Sirius Stargate and imarket solutions we will be able to deliver real business benefits and cost-savings to a key broker community”.
Sirius chief executive intermediary division Mike Dodd added: “Sirius was the first software house to commit to imarket. Since then we have been working with the Polaris team to merge our already successful Stargate commercial connectivity solution with the developing imarket initiative.
"With this agreement now in place we are looking forward to delivering integration and encouraging further take-up of electronic trading, particularly for commercial insurances.”
