Businesses in London may claim up to £10m as a result of the May Day protests and the tube strike this week, industry analysts predict.

On London's Oxford Street, stores such as Nike Town were boarded up during the protests and many city workers chose to remain at home. This was reflected in trading volumes, with share trading quiet for most of the day.

Insurers could face a raft of business interruption claims.


The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
