Xchanging probe
The Office of Fair Trading (OFT)is considering an investigation into Xchanging, provider of claims and business processing to the London Market. The move follows accusations from rival London Market software provider Eurobase, which says Xchanging is using its monopoly position to tender aggressively for contracts to supply IT and software.

FSCS rejection
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)has rejected an application for compensation from Geologistics - a policyholder of Independent Insurance - for costs incurred in an employers 'liability claim.

Asbestos fears
Asbestos reserve increases for European insurers wll continue to drag on earnings for several years, ratings agency Fitch predicted. Fitch said downgrades would most likely occur where "shock losses" impacted heavily on capital strength.

Eurobase International, suppliers of underwriting systems to Lloyd's and the London market, has announced pre-tax profits of £750,000 for the six months up to 30 September 2002.

PJH bought
Crispin Spears has acquired PJ Hayman & Company (PJH),which was previously owned by Travel Protection Group (TPG). TPG, which had a turnover of £4.4m in 2002,was put into administration on 13 February.
