AIG Europe has launched a new commercial motor product for UK companies with larger fleets.

Fleet Protector offers an in-depth twice yearly risk assessment, medical and vocational rehabilitation for third parties, online claims analysis and uninsured loss recovery.

New Aon chief

Aon has appointed Alun Evans as its managing director for new UK business development. Evans will be responsible for developing relationships with Aon's customers and developing its client base.

Terror Act effect

Recent US terrorism legislation (TRIA) should lead to a fall in the cost of terrorism insurance, according to a new Moody's report.

Moody's analyst Daniel Rubock said: "Because the passage of TRIA now requires insurance companies to offer terrorism insurance, we may begin also to see prices for terrorism insurance come down."

Capita's £20m deal

Capita McLarens has been appointed to handle a £20m claim on behalf of Zurich.

The loss adjuster's complex and major loss division will handle the claim for a fire at a Yorkshire-based pudding factory.

Folgate buys in Kent

Canterbury broker Clarke Cooper has been bought by The Folgate Partnership.

The broker has 14 staff and premiums of about £3m of SME business.

Folgate chief executive Andy Homer said he hoped to buy Canterbury Insurance Practice, currently owned by Towergate, and merge the two.

Silverstein appeals

World Trade Centre owner Larry Silverstein is appealing in the one event or two case.

He and New York's port authority question that the ruling should not be settled in a summary judgment.

They also oppose a decision that three of the insurers involved should pay based on a single loss.
