Goss buys Hanson
Independent broker Goss & Co has acquired Oxford-based broker Hanson Goulding, adding £3m to group turnover.

The acquisition increases Goss & Co's general insurance sales to £45m.

New Lloyd's broker
Irish-based broker Hooper Dolan Insurances has been granted direct access to the Lloyd's Market.

Formal Brit bid
Brit made formal its bid for PRI. The move follows weeks of negotiations during which PRI indicated it would accept Brit's terms based on an informal offer.

The offer values PRI, a professional indemnity operation started last summer, at about £156m.

Brit would pay about 120p a share for PRI's entire stock.

Endurance resultsBermuda-based property and casualty insurer Endurance Specialty Holdings has announced its first quarter 2003 results, revealing a combined ratio of 83.4%.

Endurance also revealed that it generated $51.2m (£31.7m) net income in the first three months of 2003.

The international insurer also claimed it increased its gross written premiums from $130.9m (£80.9m) in 2002, to $362.1m (£225m) in the first three months of 2003.

Aifa seeks dialogue
The Association of Independent Financial Advisers (Aifa) has called for better dialogue between regulators and the professional indemnity market.

The call came in its response to the financial FSA consultation paper CP169: Professional Indemnity Insurance for Personal Investment Firms

Ace share offering
Ace will launch an offering to sell $300m (£186m) in shares.

In a statement Ace said the new share offering would be the first step in its plans to boost capital by up to $500m (£311m).
