Lloyd's broker Swinglehurst almost doubled its turnover from 2003 to 2004 as it continued its focus on international business.
For the year ended 30 June 2004, the insurance and reinsurance broker recorded turnover of £2.5m, up from £1.3m in 2003.
In 2004, 86% of its turnover was generated from outside the UK, up from 80% in 2003.
The company said the growth in 2004 had "exceeded expectations" and that it had had success in winning new business in accident and health and construction. Pre-tax profits also rose to £187,003, up from £115,643 in 2003.
During the year, Swinglehurst opened representative offices in Chile and the Philippines.
It has applied to the China Insurance Regulatory Commission for permission to open a representative office in Beijing in January 2005, and is looking to extend its representation in Columbia and Uruguay.
