High street broker Swinton acquires Scottish business

Swinton has opened its first commercial office in Scotland after acquiring Kirkintilloch Insurance Services.

Established in 1967, Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow has gross written premiums of £1.75m.

The new Kirkintilloch operation will be Swinton’s first commercial office in Scotland.

As part of the deal Swinton will lease the current premises from Glasgow-born entrepreneur Bill Paterson as he retires at the age of 76.

Kirkintilloch’s staff have been retained and Steve Anderson has been appointed as commercial centre manager.

Swinton Commercial director Carolyn Callan said: “The acquisition of Kirkintilloch Insurance Services is an exciting time for Swinton Commercial in Scotland. We are delighted to welcome the new team to Swinton Commercial and very much look forward to the valuable contributions they will make.

“Where the right opportunity exists, as with Kirkintilloch Insurance Services, we’re keen to expand our commercial office reach to ensure more and more businesses can experience Swinton Commercial. We also continue to acquire commercial accounts for merger into our existing network, at the rate of two per month.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
