Talbot Underwriting has appointed James Skinner as head of marine underwriting and active underwriter of Syndicate 1183.

In addition, Mark Johnson has been appointed underwriting risk officer with responsibility for underwriting risk management in the Talbot group, compliance with Lloyd’s Minimum Underwriting Standards, and monitoring and reporting on underwriting performance. Johnson will also maintain his involvement with Talbot's Financial Institutions account.

The company also said Stephen Barr will take on the role of underwriting operations officer together with his existing role as head of marine & energy liability underwriting and Steve Lloyd has been appointed head of property and specialty underwriting; John Cutts, head of treaty underwriting, and Russell Bean, head of financial institutions underwriting.

Commenting on these appointments, Rupert Atkin, chief executive, said: “I am very pleased that, with these appointments, we have established a robust management structure for our underwriting team in Syndicate 1183. We are now very well placed to face the challenges and opportunities in our market that we see ahead.”
