The “Hot Topic” debate at the CII conference tackled some thorny issues: the New York disaster, new rules for whistleblowers and speechwriting.
As well as providing an insight into how AXA is viewing the big issues, chief executive Andy Homer aired his views on a previous speaker's choice of speechwriter.
Commenting on Groupama Insurances chairman and chief executive Tony Lancaster's 30-minute speech, Homer asked if he was employing Fidel Castro's speechwriter.
For those too young to have heard Castro in his prime, the Cuban dictator was renowned for the length of his speeches – often lasting well over an hour.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
