Supermarket chain Tesco is suing Costain and architect Peter Hing and Jones for £10m after a fire destroyed its Redditch store last year.

Tesco is claiming that the supermarket was unfit for use, because Costain failed to provide proper fire protection. The retailer also issued a writ against store architect Peter Hing and Jones, claiming that the store was not built to the contract specifications.

Claims management firm GAB Robins, which is handling Tesco's claim, would not comment on the proceedings.
