Motor insurance repair centre Thatcham has revealed plans to invest £1m to improve motor vehicle safety.
The Hyper G Reverse Acceleration Sled has been funded by insurers and Thatcham hopes it will benefit motorists' safety. The equipment will be used to test equipment to international standards.
Thatcham hopes it will help reduce the 200,000 whiplash injuries that affect motorists every year.
Ken Roberts, Research and Operations Director, said: "The Hyper G Sled will fast track our dynamic crash testing programme.
"By investing in this unique technology, the UK will be recognised as one of the world leaders in the search for more effective and safer seat design."
