Specialist corporate insurer Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has appointed former underwriter Tom Hoad as head of innovation, a new role to oversee the underwriting of emerging risks.

Hoad, who has worked at Tokio Marine Kiln for five years, previously underwrote cyber, intellectual property, supply chain and reputational risks.

In his new role, he will be responsible for developing new channels of distribution alongside innovative products.

Hoad will work with underwriting teams to ensure they are ahead of innovative risks that emerge.

TMK strategic development director Roger Bickmore said: “Innovation is at the heart of how we are looking to grow our business.

“Tom has a genuine track record of creating new products and bringing them to market. It seemed natural to create a new position whereby he can work with all underwriting divisions to develop additional ways of tackling emerging risks.”
