Norwich Union (NU) has used the TRACKER Network, a UK provider of stolen vehicle tracking systems, to recover £15m worth of stolen vehicles.

NU has used the system to recover more than 800 customer vehicles, and it says that many were returned undamaged the same day.

The system is fitted to each vehicle and when the vehicle is reported stolen, a silent radio signal is emitted. This signal is picked up by police cars and aircraft and guides them to the exact location of the vehicle, even if it is hidden underground.

NU's head of motor development, Jill Elliott, said: "TRACKER has revolutionised the battle against vehicle crime and its success has made a significant contribution to the control of theft costs."
