'Comparethemeerkat' campaign drives growth

The BGL Group increased profits £11m to £54m, helped by its ‘comparethemeerkat’ television advertising campaign.

Profits for the financial year were driven by growth in the group’s price comparison site, comparethemarket.com, new affinity partners for Junction, and the ongoing performance of its ‘own brand’ insurance products.

Chief executive Peter Winslow said economic conditions had tempered the rapid growth of earlier years. “We have been in a fortunate position, however, having spent the previous year streamlining processes and driving efficiency.

“As a result we were able to stay ahead of market changes. I’m proud that we have delivered significant profit in such a challenging environment.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
