Oliver Laird will join UK General Insurance board

UK General Insurance has unveiled Oliver Laird as its new finance director, with immediate effect.

Laird, who joined the company in September 2009 as head of finance, will join the UK General Insurance board and report to chief operating officer Michael Warren.

Laird has held a variety of senior finance roles, most recently in Lloyds Banking Group, where he was director of central finance for the insurance & investment division.

He has also held finance roles with HBOS, Royal London Mutual and a number of other large UK and international businesses.

Michael Warren said: “Oliver is a class act and will significantly strengthen the all-round capability of the UK General Insurance senior management team. He has done a tremendous job leading the Finance Function during a challenging time for the business, and I’m very pleased to welcome him onto the Board.”

Laird added: “I’m delighted to be appointed FD, and I am joining an experienced management team with a clear strategy for growth. I look forward to helping UK General Insurance achieve its aim and become one of the UK’s leading specialist underwriters in the insurance market.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
