'Small number' of jobs will be lost following strategic review

UK General has no immediate plans to cut its branches.

The Leeds company, formed last year from the merger of Primary General and Longhawk, is in the final stages of a strategic review, but said its six regional offices would continue under review.

Chief operating officer Michael Warren confirmed UK General is centralising its underwriting, processing and other back-office activities at its Leeds headquarters. Fortis is to underwrite the SME business and the firm’s specialist agricultural insurer, Rural.

He also confirmed that a “small number” of jobs would be lost following a review of some non-specialist business lines.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
