’We’re bringing something different to the MGA market by combining fronting capabilities with meaningful risk retention,’ says head

Aviva has launched a new MGA hybrid fronting proposition through its Global Corporate and Specialty (GCS) division.

The insurer said the new proposition combines fronting capabilities with risk retention, providing MGAs with access to Aviva’s underwriting expertise, financial strength and international network.

Operating through a standalone profit and loss structure with decision-making based in London, the proposition has been designed to support multicountry and multiline insurance programmes through a single platform.

Aviva said the offering will initially target larger, established MGA facilities with gross written premium volumes of £20m and above.

Wider ambition

The launch forms part of the insurer’s wider ambition to grow its position within global commercial lines and delegated authority business.

John Andrews, Aviva’s head of global MGA hybrid fronting, said: “We’re bringing something different to the MGA market by combining fronting capabilities with meaningful risk retention.

“As demand grows for partners that can support international, multiclass programmes, our hybrid model gives MGAs, brokers and reinsurers a single route into Aviva’s global reach, specialist underwriting expertise and financial strength.

”For MGAs, that means access to a fronting partner with the credibility, flexibility and balance sheet strength they need to attract and retain capacity support.”
