Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt become Towers Watson

Human resources consultants and actuaries Watson Wyatt completed its $4bn merger with rival Towers Perrin Forster & Crosby to form Towers Watson that will make its US trading debut today, Reuters reports.

It will compete with Hewitt Associates and the Mercer subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan.

Watson Wyatt chief executive John Haley will serve as the new company's CEO, while Towers Perrin CEO Mark Mactas will serve as president and chief operating officer.

Towers Watson will be headquartered in New York.
