Rise in PMI subscribers

For the first time in recent years, the number of subscribers to personal private medical insurance (PMI) policies grew year-on-year. ABI figures show that in 2006, 1,030,000 people had personal PMI policies, an increase of 1.8% from 1,012,000 in 2005.

ECIC launches division

The Electrical Contractors’ Insurance Company (ECIC) is expanding its operations with the launch of a specialist underwriting division focusing on the SME market. The service will be available exclusively via brokers, through the Facilitas internet cover and quotation system.

Foreign vehicle crash rise

The Motor Insurers Bureau said between 2004 and 2006 claims involving foreign vehicles rose from 17,032 to 19,621. Accidents involving vehicles from Poland, Slovakia, and Lithuania have all seen significant increases.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
