Wellington Re intends to float on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), according to reports today.
A source close to the new reinsurer said it was an option, the timing of which would depend on market conditions.
It is thought the listing could happen at the beginning of 2004 when experts estimate the group could be valued at around £1bn.
