A Willis operation in China has suspended business after the Chinese regulatory authorities discovered "irregularities", said sources.
The Willis Pudong joint venture operation in the Chinese province of Guangdong is now being investigated by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission. The rest of Willis Pudong"s operations are thought to be unaffected.
A source close to Willis said they thought the situation had arisen due to a "misunderstanding" and would be resolved shortly.
