Willis Commercial Network is in talks with London market insurers Brit and PRI about access to new capacity.

Willis Commercial Network managing director Mark Radburn said that both insurers were interested in using Willis Commercial Network's 55 independent broker members to expand their presence out of the London Market and into the provinces.

Radburn said that Willis Commercial Network members already place some motor and household risks with Brit, and the relationship has recently expanded to cover larger liability risks.

He said they were talking with Brit about extending the relationship to small commercial combined policies and large property risks.

Liability specialist PRI is in talks with Willis about striking a deal for network members to place liability risks through PRI.

Brit is in advanced negotiations to take over PRI, but Radburn said he is talking independently to each insurer.

Radburn said that with about 85% of the Willis Commercial Network's risks placed through the five major general insurers, access to new markets was a priority.

He said the network planned to increase its brokers from 55 to around 70 over the next two years.
