Willis International chairman Sarah Turvill has won the insurance category of the Women in the City Woman of Achievement Awards.

Turvill has had a 35-year career with Willis and was at times the only woman leading its international acquisitions negotiations.

She also established the Women at Willis network that supports women through networking, mentoring and professional development and personally mentors a number of women.

She will retire from full-time employment at Willis at the end of the year.

“We were impressed by her passion to continue working with Willis’ new group chief executive to create a more diverse work force. She sees this as a business imperative and is dedicated to boosting the profile of the insurance industry as a career destination of choice for young women to organise more events for women across the sector,” the judges said.

Turvill will go on to contend for the overall Woman of Achievement Award next month.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
