Informative tour for the great unread.

And off to Crawford’s annual press bash, held this year at Dr Samuel Johnson’s one time London home.

Crawford’s press bods thought the assembled hacks were bound to be Johnson fans – not only did the great lexicographer write the first comprehensive dictionary (an essential tool when writing about the vagaries of insurance), but he was also a journalist and writer of some renown.

Imagine their surprise, then, to find that a good handful of the industry’s scribblers had never heard of the good doctor. Outrageous!

But this state of affairs was soon put right with a guided tour of the house, a glimpse of that famous dictionary, and then a few glasses of the finest. A night that would have made even the notoriously hospitable Johnson proud.
