Brokers advertising in the Yellow Pages face increased costs over plans to increase insurance classifications from two to six.

Currently, the Yellow Pages divides insurance into insurance agents and insurance companies. But it has expanded its classifications into six: insurance commercial and business; insurance car and motor; insurance home building and contents; insurance intermediaries; insurance travel and insurance other.

Coversure Insurance Services agency director Nick Hollands said most brokers would have to place ads in several categories to ensure they were not overlooked by consumers. He said Coversure would have to advertise in five of the new categories to represent all its lines of business. "It's marginalising the small broker as usual."
