Zurich Professional is the biggest provider of solicitors' professional indemnity cover in England and Wales, new figures have shown.
The table from the Managers of the Assigned Risks Pool, put together on behalf of the Law Society, revealed Zurich's estimated premium income for 12002-2003 was £47.2m.
This put it ahead of St Paul International at £45m and QBE International Insurance at £37.5 Zurich jumped from third place in 2000 to its new position, which equals a 21% market share.
Zurich Professional head David Coughlan said he was delighted to be the number one provider.
