Insurance outsourcing and services provider appoints Lewis as interim GI head

Brent Escott Capita

Capita’s head of general insurance Brent Escott has left the firm by mutual agreement after just over half a year in the role, Insurance Times can reveal.

Escott, who joined Capita a year ago, had initiated a number of strategic changes and has built an experienced senior team to lead the company’s insurance operations.

The company confirmed that Capita Insurance Services finance director Wayne Lewis, who was the former Zurich Global Corporate UK chief executive and chief financial officer, will act as head of the general insurance business until a permanent replacement is found. He will be assisted by interim corporate development director Phil Zeidler.

Capita said: “We would like to thank Brent for his contribution to our business and wish him every success in the future.”

Escott’s departure comes only weeks after he spoke about his plans for the business.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
