Former Allianz organisational management head joins motor broker in newly-created role

Former Allianz executive Kevin Howard has become motor broker 1st Central Insurance Management’s first chief operating officer (COO).

Howard will take charge of the company’s operational, human resources and change strategy. He was previously head of organisational management at Allianz UK.

He said: I am delighted to be joining 1st Central at such an exciting time and I look forward to driving delivery of its operational strategy.”

1st Central Insurance Management chief executive Andy James added: “Now is the right time for the business to be appointing its first COO. The business is rapidly growing and Kevin will be able to draw on his 20 years of experience to facilitate an operational evolution at 1st Central to continue our growth and expansion.”

1st Central launched in 2008 and has gross written premium in excess of £128m.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
