Sister title Global Reinsurance’s markets editor jets off to Miami this week to talk insurance regulation and other hot topics

Wednesday
I speak with Moody’s senior credit analyst Dominic Simpson about the ongoing eurozone threat. He assures me that insurers are in a better position than other financial sectors.

Thursday
I spend today trawling through European company reports looking for juicy nuggets of data to use in next month’s Global Reinsurance global market report on Europe.

Friday
Today is spent finalising the agenda for Global Reinsurance’s roundtable discussion with Latin America’s top broker bosses and insurance chiefs on Tuesday in Miami.

Monday
I write sections of the European GR report from a tour boat in the Everglades. The vista is certainly a little warmer and drier than our offices on Cannon Street, London.

Tuesday
First up on today’s Miami roundtable agenda is finding out why Argentina is rumoured to be following Brazil in keeping its capital closer to shore with new laws. What’s to be gained from this? Stay tuned to globalreinsurance.com to find out.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
