Giles Insurance was formed in 1967 and has built a reputation for offering an informed and professional service to industrial, commercial and personal clients throughout the UK.
The company's personal lines origins were transformed in the 1990s by strong organic growth in the hotel and licensed trade sector. This was supplemented by selective acquisitions from the late 1990s and by attracting leading professionals to drive organic growth. The company is now the largest Scottish based insurance broker deriving over 80% of its income from commercial lines.
Disciplined growth in Scotland and England, supplemented by endorsements from influential trade associations, has strengthened the company's position in both countries. In addition the continued winning of high profile clients, the establishment of a London City office and moving towards Lloyd's accreditation, has consolidated the company in the Corporate business market.
CHIEF OFFICER BIOGRAPHY
Chris Giles joined Giles Insurance Brokers Ltd in 1988 as a Commercial Insurance Account Executive and was promoted to Commercial Department Manager in 1991.
In 1995 he was appointed Joint Managing Director and in 2001 he was appointed Chief Executive.
Born in England and brought up in Scotland, Chris returned to England to graduate with an MA in English Literature & Language from Oxford University.
Chris began his insurance career in Liverpool with a leading broker and completed the ACII in 1990. Returning to Scotland, Chris gained his FCII in 1993 and has supplemented this with various executive development courses.
