Ace European Group is to begin a major drive into the regional market, targeting specialty lines business.

The group will target mid-market and larger corporates outside the main cities. It will focus on accident and health, directors' and officers' and technology risks.

"We are looking at a second city strategy - markets outside the major urban centres like Birmingham and Manchester," Ace president P&C UK & Ireland Carl Bach told Insurance Times.

The group launched three new UK divisions this week as part of its UK growth strategy.

Ace Commercial Risks will aim at medium sized companies with single and commercial lines property and casualty cover.

Ace Major Risks will target multinational businesses and FTSE 500 companies.

Ace Affinity Risks will focus on the development of schemes through binding authorities, group purchasing and Ace's online e-commerce solution.
